Dear Crestview Middle School parent,

It is amazing that the end of the second grading period and the semester is this Friday.  As a reminder, our students will be involved in semester exams beginning on Wednesday.  Their schedule of exams is as follows:

Wednesday—Math and Social Studies

Thursday—Science and a 9-week test in their first specials class

Friday—Language Arts and a 9-week test in their second specials class

It has been an outstanding first semester, and we wish to encourage our students to finish strong by preparing and performing with a solid effort on their end-of-semester exams/tests.

Crestview winter sports coaches, with the help of Student Council, have sponsored a “Coaches versus Cancer” contest that will culminate on January 23.  Students have been donating money, placing the donation into containers with their favorite coaches’ names on them.  The coach who has the most money will get a pie in his/her face during an assembly next week.  Anyone who makes a $10 donation will receive a t-shirt, while $5 donors will receive a lanyard.  Coaches and student council members would like to thank the Tim Hamrick family for donating shirts to the boy’s varsity team, with Hoover’s Garage donating shirts for the girl’s varsity team.  Team members will wear their shirts at their next varsity games, respectively. Coaches and Student Council members would like to thank the Hamricks and Hoovers for their generosity.

Cheerleaders and student council members will be collecting donations from fans at both the varsity boys game, this weekend, and the varsity girls game against Van Wert on Monday, January 23.  All money goes to the American Cancer Society.  Pictured are student council members Taylor Hamrick, Taylor Springer, and Erika Frey wearing their “Coaches versus Cancer” t-shirts.

The High School Scholastic Bowl Team traveled south this past Saturday to compete in the Sidney Social Studies Tournament which consisted of a field of 30 teams.  The A-Team defeated St. Marys, Celina, Ben Logan, Tipp City, then Troy in overtime before being seeded first in the final bracket.  The team then defeated Troy and Ben Logan to advance to the semi-finals.  Before going into the semi-finals and final match, three of the team's top four members had to leave for another commitment, and JV players stepped into their places, stepped up to the challenge, and the team pulled off two more wins against St. Marys and Northmont to take home the championship.   This chalks up three tournament wins out of four competitions so far this season and brings the teams match record to 23-2.  Congratulations on a great win against a number of schools much larger than Crestview.
