It has been great to be back in the building and seeing all of the learning that is happening in the classroom. Spring was a challenge for many of us as we navigated uncharted waters, but students, teachers, and staff made the most of it.
To begin the 2020-2021 school year, teachers were able to take part of professional development that centered around technology. They had various sessions that would help them be successful in the classroom. These sessions include: Zoom, Edpuzzle, flip grid, Screencastify, Google, Remote Learning Tips, Tips for Diverse Learners, Building Relationships, and many more. Teachers were able to sign up for the sessions that were interesting to them.
Along with purchasing some new platforms, the District will also be utilizing myOn, which is an add on to Renaissance. This will allow students to have access to over 6,000 digital books. Students will also have the opportunity to take AR quizzes over the book they have read. This will allow students to have access to books at any time.
As of now, there are still testing requirements that have to be met. The Kindergarten students were given the new KRA-R during their Kindergarten screening. Selected Juniors and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT in the middle of October. Third grade students will be taking the AIR reading assessment in October and our high school students will be taking EOC exam retakes in December.
PK-5 teachers have been working diligently on PBIS. Teachers were trained last fall and have had monthly meetings to get the matrixes for the various areas made. When walking through the halls, you will see these matrixes, along with voice level posters. Students have done a great job of learning about PBIS and how to respond with positive behavior.
