Crestview Middle School student Samantha Klinger was recently featured in the Children’s Craniofacial Association’s national magazine “CCA Wonderkids”.  Sam, an 8th grader at Crestview Middle School, is diagnosed with Apert Syndrome.  To date, Samantha has had 28 surgeries that have been necessary due to issues that have surfaced from her Apert syndrome.  While many of life’s activities present a unique challenge for Samantha, she always tackles what is presented to her with a smile.  One of her favorite books is Wonder, by R. J. Palacio.  This book stands out, to her, because it highlights that people with disabilities and facial differences are humans too.  Samantha notes that the book brings out a message that everyone should hear:   “I just want people to remember that we have feelings, too.   We want to be accepted as a person.  Even though we look different, what matters most about a person is what is inside them:  I like to have fun and be around people”.  Pictured is Sam hold ing her copy of the CCA Wonderkids magazine.

Crestview Schools has partnered with the YWCA of Van Wert County and their “Stand Against Racism” program.  The goal of “Stand Against Racism” is to unite our community in a bold demonstration that delivers a clear message:  we are on a mission to eliminate racism.  Students voluntarily signed a pledge that they would take their own stand against racism.  Pictured are several Crestview students standing next to the “Stand Against Racism” banner.
