Tuesday- “Home Run”- Sports day, dress as your favorite player
Wednesday- “Homies”- match your squad
Thursday- “Home away from home”- tacky tourist
Friday- “There is no place like home”- wear blue & red

The Optimist Club of Van Wert wants to inform you about its annual Oratorical Contest for students to be held Sunday, February 19, 2017. The topic this year is “What the World Gains from Optimism.”

Students’ speeches will be judged based on content and presentation to determine the top boy and girl winners. First-place winners will receive a $300 prize and advance to the zone or regional level, and possibly the district level for the opportunity to win scholarships.  

The Oratorical Contest challenges students to express their thoughts and opinions to an audience with the opportunity to win prizes and scholarships. Our club hopes to bring out the best in each of young person and help them achieve their goals for the future.

The Oratorical Contest will be held at Community Health Professionals, 1159 Westwood Dr., Van Wert. Applications are due Feb. 10.

Crestview's Knight Vision  is Grand Champion at Southern Wells Raider Classic Congratulations to Knight Vision and the jazz band for being named grand champions at the Southern Wells Raider Classic competition on Saturday, Jan. 7.  Caption award winners were Griffen Waltmire for best male soloist and Gabrielle Emerick for best female soloist.  Austin Sheets received the best performer award.  In the solo competition, Griffen Waltmire received first place and Gabrielle Emerick received third place.

Crestview is Named Grand Champion of the Carroll Classic Congratulations to Knight Vision and the jazz band for being named grand champions at the Carroll Classic on Saturday, Jan. 21.  Knight Vision received best choreography and best vocals and received higher scores that three schools in the large school division.  Griffen Waltmire received third place in the solo competition out of 33 students from all competing schools.  The best performer award went to Savannah Smith.

Presale tickets for the boys’ basketball game at Shawnee on Tuesday will be on sale Tuesday in the A.D. office from 7:45-3:15.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

All tickets at the door are $6.
