Crestview Schools has partnered with the YWCA of Van Wert County and their “Stand Against Racism” program.  The goal of “Stand Against Racism” is to unite our community in a bold demonstration that delivers a clear message:  we are on a mission to eliminate racism.  Students voluntarily signed a pledge that they would take their own stand against racism.  Pictured are several Crestview students standing next to the “Stand Against Racism” banner.

Crestview’s National Honor Society chapter and Scholastic Bowl team hosted a Kids Against Hunger event on Sunday, April 10, 2016, to feed children in Haiti. Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit, humanitarian, food-aid organization that feeds hungry children and families in the United States and abroad. 64 Crestview students came together to prepare and package over 15,000 meals for children in need. Students at Crestview Local Schools are helping the Village of Convoy collect plastic lids and caps as a community event, in order to try and earn park benches to be placed around the town of Convoy.  These benches can be used for children in the area to gather, talk to friends, eat ice cream from the ice cream shop, or read library books from the village library.  Students in the elementary have already gathered nine large garbage bags of caps and lids for the town and continue collecting.  It takes 400 pounds to earn a bench and the goal is to collect enough for several benches.  This project is made possible through a partnership with Green Tree Plastics, LLC from Evansville, Indiana. There is a wide range of acceptable plastic bottle caps – from medicine bottle lids, to drinking bottle lids, and even detergent bottle lids.  To determine if your lid/cap is acceptable, check for the recycle numbers of (2), (4), or (5), or check include any lid that floats on water.  Donations may be dropped off in Crestview Elementary’s lobby area.
